Trials Recap - Adam makes PanAm Team, SKSC alumni on the podium

April 27, 2023

Canadian Trials occurred Mar 28-Apr 2/24 in Toronto at Pan am Center.  With approx 675 swimmers and 145 clubs in attendance - the meet was a fast one!  Summer McIntosh led the way with 2 world records, as well several other records set by other canadian swimmers including Joshua Liendo and Laon Kim.

SKSC had 3 swimmers at the meet.   First time qualifier Lucas K, and veterans Peter H and Adam W (Adam currently swims at Columbia University).  There were also SKSC alumni in attendance with  Justice M, Arianna H and Luke S.B. representing their universities.  Two other SKSC swimmers that qualified but were unable to compete were Izzy S and Rachel T (both out for medical reasons).

Adam W earned 2 bronze medals with solid performances in the 400fr and 800 fr.  He narrowly missed out on Team Canada World team in the 200 Fr placing 5th in the event.  Adam’s performances however were good enough to earn a spot for the Pan-Am Games in Santiago, Chile this October.  This will be Adam’s first senior national team.  Congratulations!

Peter was a finalist in the 200 Fly, just tenth off a personal best!  Alumni Justin M swam well, making the podium in 50 Fly, while Luke S.B. earned a second swim in the 50FR.  Arianna H also had a great weekend on the para-side, taking bronze in both the 50FR and 100FR.

Swimmers had the opportunity to see some truly world class swimming and know what works need to be done to continue their personal development.
