Speedo Junior & Senior Championships Write Up
On July 25-August 1 five members of the Surrey Knights Swim Club had the opportunity to attend the Speedo Junior & Senior Championships in Montreal. This 7-day National event featured the top age group and senior national swimmers from across Canada. Knights swimmer Yutong Wu dominated the Men’s 16-18 division winning the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle events, as well as the 100m Butterfly. Wu also claimed Silver in 100m Freestyle and 200m Butterfly, earning him the top point award for the Men’s 16-18 category. Peter Huang also did well in the 16-18 Butterfly events, placing 4th in the 200m and 5th in the 100m events. Lucas Kim also put up a solid showing in the Men’s 13-14 age group placing 3rd in the 200m Breaststroke, 4th in 400m IM, 5th in the 100m Breaststroke, 5th in 400m Freestyle, 7th in 200m Butterfly and 8th in 200m Freestyle. Other Knights swimmers Jack Hayhoe and Luke Stewart-Beinder placed 9th in 16-18 100m Butterfly and 5th in 16-18 50m Freestyle respectively. Way to go Boys!!!
