May PASS Meet Results and Thank You's
Congratulations to the 100 swimmers who attended Saturday's PASS Meet at Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre. The swimmers looked really good, and the swim times are starting to become quite impressive. SKSC CompDev Coaches have been really excited to see the progress on the Gold swimmers' butterfly. The improvements were obvious to see in both the 200 IM events and the 50 flys.
SKSC Gold swimmers had 9 new swimmers who achieved their 4:00.00 200 IM times. Congratulations to Braiden Cho, Luke Ornedo, Elvin Shen, Sasha Khalopik, Nora Saini, Ben Tian, Ian Tong, Eli Liu, and Nicolle Contreras. The 4:00.00 200 IM is the first thing that coaches look at when moving swimmers from the CompDev program to the Competitive program, but it is not the only thing. In order to move on from Gold swimmers must also show us amazing skills, good attendance, that they are coachable, and there must be room in groups for them to move.
Silver swimmers also showed some amazing results in the 100 IM. Coaches were extremely pleased with the swimmers' 2 seconds of gliding during their breaststroke events and the 100 IM. Congratulations to swimmers who have achieved their 2:15.00 100 IM. Wonbin Seo, Elena Yu, Yena Cob, Celia Zhang, Max Xu, Jaibir Kochar, Alicia Zalameda, and Patrick Liou have all achieved their times. It is also one of the requirements to move from Silver to Gold groups, but it is not the only one. Silver swimmers must also show us amazing skills, good attendance, that they are coachable, and there must be room in groups for them to move.
Click here for the results. Please remember that the SEED time is the time your child went into the meet with (that could be a previous best time, or a coach's made up time which usually ends in .00), their FINALS time is the time that was actually swam at the meet. If you find any errors, please let Coach Kurt know, and he will look into it.
As well, there were a few concerned swimmers who swam slower than their previous best times that thought that the slower time would invalidate their sub 4:00.00 200 IM time. That is not the case. Your best time does not get worse if you swim a slower time. You cannot lose your LMR time unless it is older than 2 years old... then the entry systems for most meets will not accept it.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped time, start, chief time, stuff bags, relief time or write on the white board. We cannot run these swim meets without you, and your efforts are very much appreciated by SKSC coaching staff, and the swimmers.
Upcoming events for CompDev Swimmers are:
May 31 - Delta 10 & Under Sprint Cup (signups closed)
June 4 - Bronze Race Night #7 (signups open)
June 7 - PSW June PASS Meet (signups open)
We would also like to get all the CompDev swimmers together for a fun, outdoor swimming event during the last few weeks of June. Stay tuned for a date when Coach Kurt figures it out.
